Singing A New Song

"Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things, his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him." Psalm 98:1

Hot Dot is online. Well, almost. Hopefully by tomorrow.

Monday I went with my mother to wonderland, aka The Apple Store at the Mall of Millenia. She was on a mission to purchase her first, ever, computer. A New Mac Book is not a bad way to enter a whole new virtual world. Her Grands are impressed. They are, after all, the ones who suggested that her online name be known as Hot Dot. She is thinking that through despite the very enthusiastic, younger generational support for Hot Dot. She is concerned that it might be difficult to be taken seriously signing correspondance to the IRS perhaps, with such a moniker. And she really isn't interested in getting asked out. A lot. By men with names like "Bad Bob" or "DantheMan".

I, too, am impressed with her new computer. But what really impresses me is her willingness to learn new tricks. To sing a new song. It is a little more than four years since my Dad went to Jesus. Mom has had to learn a lot of new things. Things that for 40 years my Dad took care of. Things that are financial. Things that are legal. Things that have to be fixed. Things that matter.

She has forged ahead, brave, with her faith and her Lord leading her. She continues to sing a new song to the Lord. Let me tell you, Hot Dot really sings.

Sometimes it is difficult to sing. Loss can suck the very breath out of you leaving you to doubt that you will ever sing again. Change can leave you feeling out of key. Disapointment can leave you tone deaf. No melodies, no lyrics. But God calls us to sing again, to sing a new song past the pain. We are to sing to Him in hope and love. We glorify Him when we move along. I hope this January you are singing too! Let me know what new song you are singing these days.
